With more than forty lecturers teaching across the Dublin Institute of Technology, we are one of the larger School of Languages in the State. We provide modules to upwards of 1000 students across DIT in a total of eight languages: Chinese, English, French, German, Irish, Italian, Russian and Spanish. Our teaching and research interests include Applied Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, Intercultural Studies, Irish Cultural Studies, Modern and Classical Literature and Film, History, Media and Cultural Studies as well as Critical and Narrative Theory.

Whether you are interested in advancing your language skills for specific professional purposes, taking up a new language, or studying culture and history - we offer an impressive range of courses and programme combinations in many disciplines.  Students from abroad can perfect their English or join another language stream while in Dublin.

With our dedicated languages-for-all policy, there are also shorter language and cultural studies courses on offer across the Institute. Our active links with European, South American and Chinese universities provide many students with an opportunity to spend a term or year abroad and to experience first-hand the culture and society of the language that they study.

If you wish to find out more about the languages we teach click on the rotating pictures and you will meet some of our staff and see a short video presentation on our programmes.

By clicking on the relevant link in the navigation menu you will be able to find detailed information on undergraduate programmes, postgraduate study and our elective modules open to DIT students and staff as well as to the public.
